Creating as a fibre artist for almost 20 years, my work springs from a love of printing fabric be it recycled bed-sheets, old poly-sheer curtains, silk or worn linen tablecloths. For the last year my work has had a distinctly botanical look.
Using silk, linen and wool, I print directly with leaves immersing the bundles of fabric and leaves into a natural dye. This dye can be made from avocado pits, logwood, cochineal, turmeric or alkanet. All give a range of soft colours, from pinks to greys to purples, and can then be used for scarves, pillows, wall hangings or clothing.BACK TO ARTISTS PAGE
