Leif Kristian Freed

Leif Kristian Freed

Leif practices his art mostly as an abstract painter.

“I am a process painter. When I see an empty canvas, I want to fill it with colour and form.  Usually not knowing what to paint, I fill the space with free flowing moves; composing & balancing to music and rhythm.  A balance to the disorganized chaos will emerge, using a combination of intuition, techniques learned, inspiration & the X-factor”.

Nowadays Leif Kristian works mostly in acrylics, including mixed media.  He shows often at the Federation of Canadian Artists gallery on Granville Island.  His paintings can also be found at Fresh on the Coast gallery in Sechelt and at the Wow gallery in Gibsons.

Growing up surrounded by artists and exposed to the arts from a young age it was natural that he channeled his talent onto canvas.  From an early age Leif Kristian showed his talent as an aspiring artist.  He shaped his abilities further by attending Commercial Art College in Helsinki.  This launched his career in commercial art in Stockholm and Helsinki.  Leif Kristian settled on the West Coast of Canada in the mid eighties.  Over the years he has experimented in a variety of mediums.  His art is in collections in Europe and North America.
